The academy seeks to engage students to be actively involved and invested in their own learning. Traditional tests and quizzes are rare as part of the learning process. Students will be asked to demonstrate their learning through their involvement in the following:
- Student - based research and instruction
- Research paper writing
- Socratic seminars
- Student presentations
- Process dramas
Opportunities for learning are created that draw upon students' multiple intelligence. Emphasis is placed on students demonstrating their knowledge through creative assignments as well as a formal research paper at the end of each quarter. Bloom's Taxonomy is emphasized as a tool for students to use as a way to measure depths of understanding and critical thinking skills.
